I finished the front side of the house tonight. I got Heather to help me take some pictures of the display in different modes. The camera does not look near as good as in person. I guess everyone will have to come out and see them to see the difference it really is in person.
I completed the final icicle light hanging last night. I think they look awesome. I might be a little bias because of all the work and time I have put in them, but I love how they look. When I turn them on it always seems as if a car decides to drive by. Heather always gripes at me to turn them off because the neighbors are going to think WE are nuts. I told her it isn't like they can't see them hanging during the day. Just so everyone knows, I am the crazy one not the rest of my family. They all love to see them when they are done, but I am a lonely man when it comes to installing the display. My girls would help if they could, but it's not a real safe idea to let a 3 or 5 year old on the roof with me. That might get me in trouble with the wife.
I started hanging my lights early this year. We have big plans for our display this year. I am planning on having about 20,000 lights. I started hanging my icicles on August 31st. I know it sounds early, but everywhere that I hang lights there will be three strands instead of one. I am making my house be able to change between three colors. It can be all blue at once, all white at once, or all multi colored at once. I hope this turns out to be a good looking display. This will be my first year animating my display with Light O Rama and it has been difficult to figure out the wiring route of my lights. It will have approximately 3/4 mile of extension cords and this can get tricky trying to keep them out of the way of a 3 and 5 year old.
