Thanks to everyone who made the trip to come see our lights. We hope you all enjoyed them. Again this year, we were collecting donations for Children's Hospital of Alabama. We collected $225 this year to send in to help the Hospital. That is a total of $825 over the three years of collecting. It may not sound like much, but it is more than we could donate to them alone on a yearly basis. We are in the early stages of planning Christmas 2015. We look forward to another successful year and hope everyone gets a chance to come out and view the display. We hope everyone has a safe and Blessed year.

Last year we were very lucky with our display. There was only one night that the wind caused some problems. I was able to fix it and the show was not disrupted. Last year we used our display to raise money for The Children's Hospital of Alabama. One hundred percent of all monies that were collected were sent to Children's Hospital. We ended up raising $300.00 this year. We surpassed our goal of $250.00 and have set a more ambitious goal for 2013. We hope to raise $500.00 this year. Thanks to everyone who donated to our display. I look forward to raising even more money for Children's this year.
Light up day is getting close. We have thirty five days until light up and I believe I will be on time. I have had a couple days off work, but that is just not enough time to complete the decorations. I am excited that the next time I mow should be the last for the year. After I decide that it is, then I can get rolling full speed ahead. The wiring across the yard takes quite some time and has to wait until the yard is done growing. I completed the assembly of my newest controller last night and all tests ran successfully. I have one element that seems to be very time consuming. I need to finish installing it so I can run some live tests to make sure it works properly. I hope everyone gets a chance to come by this year and enjoy the show. Merry Christmas! It will be here before we know it.
I can't believe it, The lighting season is only five and a half months away. This year is flying by and is starting to worry me I might end up in the same situation as I did last year, with cutting it close. I am determined to get it started earlier this year, but that means I have less than three months left before my lights have to start going up. I have plans for some additions this year that if I don't get started VERY SOON, I am not going to be able to pull it off. I am having a hard time finding any spare time to sequence new songs. If anyone is willing to sequence some for me, let me know. Just kidding, but I am interested if anyone has any suggestions for songs that you or your children would like to see animated to the lights. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope everyone has a BLESSED year.
We have it set up that our display will light up on Thanksgiving night at 5:00 PM each year. This is to help people be able to plan a trip out with their families and not have to worry about if the show is on or not. I have been a really busy person this year, and thought I might not make it. The closer it was getting to Thanksgiving I was getting scared that I would not be able to pull it off this year. I worked many LATE nights on the display. I apologize to our neighbors if my 2:30 AM practice runs woke anyone up. I did manage to pull it off and light up at 5 on Thanksgiving night as planned. I set my final item at approximately 11:30 PM the night before. I will not allow myself to run this close in the future. We are glad the display is up and running and appreciate all of the visitors that have made it out so far. We hope all that have managed to come see the special Hartselle High School band sequences enjoyed them. Good Luck to the Tigers in the 5A state championship game today! Go Tigers!
Every year Light O Rama has a Summer Sale. The time frame is usually around the first week of July. This year there were several factors including the Japan catastrophes that set the sale back. Several items are on back order because their origin is Japan. This made it really hard for Dan and the crew over at LOR to plan the usual sale. They did their best and have now, the second week of September, started mini sales. They were not able to do the usual everything on sale at the same time type of sale, but did manage to still have a wonderful sale. I was lucky as the item I had to have to complete my show this year were the first item to go on sale. I purchased the three cosmic color ribbons that I have been waiting on all year and I still got them at a $150 discount. I have already been notified that my items have shipped. This is not too bad since they are extremely busy with all of the anxious customers who have been awaiting the sale bombarding them with orders in the first day I am sure. I placed my order yesterday, 9/7/11 and am set to get it at my house on or before 9/13/11. I have absolutely no complaints about a week turn around, especially since Dan is taking care of all shipping charges during the sale. I just wanted to tell of my joy that the LOR crew gave me yesterday at 11:41 when my phone showed me the most anticipated email of my life. Thanks LOR for the AWESOME products you supply us all with.
I am very excited for Summer to get here. It is not only for the warm weather, but for the LOR sale too! I am almost to the amount I needed to save to add three more boxes to control lights. I am excited for this years display. I have a large element I am planning to add this year and I think people will really enjoy the addition. Well that is all except for my neighbors that the lights will be much brighter in their windows. They are all very accepting in my display and have been AWESOME! One neighbor was too nice this past season,as I had a spot light shining directly in their bedroom, (not knowing it) and they made it through the entire season without even asking me to re-direct it. I am sorry that it happened and I would not have minded at all adjusting for them. Some people are too nice. I will not complain about it, they could be a GRINCH. I love my neighbors.
I completed taking the lights down tonight. My work has been cutting back on hours for a couple of weeks so as long as the weather permitted, I worked on taking them down. I checked strands at random and have only one out of about twenty I checked have a problem. I am glad they are down, now I get to start planning for next year. Thanks again to all who have came by. We hope everyone enjoyed it. I love getting the comments from people who have been by, so feel free to go to our comments page and leave a comment. Thanks and I look forward to another successful year coming up.
We had an awesome first year with the display. Thanks to all who came out to see our display! We really enjoy hearing all the comments from people who viewed the show. I am currently in the process of taking the display down. I have taken the trees and the yard decorations down, now to get started on the lights on the house. Thanks again to all who made it out and we look forward to many more years pleasing the viewers as well as the BIG child at our house. Have a great year
This season has been very pleasant so far. I had a thunderstorm one night take out half of my mini trees and a few of my yard decorations out. I managed to get them all set back up except for the penguins in a sail boat. They had fallen over twice and this time messed the pole up. I decided not to put them back up this year. So far everyone that has came out has said they have enjoyed our display. I hope more of you that haven't made it out here yet get the chance to come visit our display. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
